TOEFL–Brief Introduction
Every year
more than half a million students aspiring to attend college or graduate from
various countries all over the world take TOEFL test. TOEFL is the “Test of
English as a Foreign Language”. About 5000 colleges and universities require
TOEFL score along with applications. TOEFL is designed level of a student and
his ability to succeed in English speaking academic environment.
Before 2005
TOEFL used to be PBT (paper based test) or CBT (Computer based test). Since
2006 iBT (Internet based test) was introduced in most of the countries. However
PBT is continued to be administered in several countries even today.
TOEFL iBT
is designed to evaluate a person’s Speaking, Reading, and Listening &
Writing skills. In iBT your speech is recorded and audio presentations are
provided during the tests. Such type of testing method is referred to as “integrated
tests” test which aims to asses completely the language skills of the student
from the point of view of ability to excel in English-speaking academic
environment.
